CELEBRATING WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On 19th March 2016, WIE Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section organized an event entitled “International Women’s Day Celebration 2016” at IICT Conference room, ECE Building, BUET. International Women’s Day is celebrated worldwide every year on the 8th day of March. With 20 participants, the event aimed to celebrate womanhood and was focused on talks by two prominent speakers who are successfully leading in academia and corporate sector.
The first speaker- Professor Dr. Shahida Rafique, President, OWSD NC Bangladesh, discussed and exhibited “The Current Statistics of Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)”. Different points have been highlighted regarding the participation and contribution of women in our country in this sector. After the talk she shared the stories behind her professional success with the audiences.
Later, Anamika Bhakta serving as the Vice President, Technical Regulations, Regulatory Affairs, Robi Axiata Ltd. presented the 2nd talk on “Effective Communication Skill”. In a very efficient and précise way she hashed out the important skills necessary for everyone to conduct their regular tasks.
The event was moderated by Dr. Celia Shahnaz, 2016 IEEE R10 WIE Coordinator; Advisor and Past Chair, WIE Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section. Besides her, current executive committee members of WIE Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section were also present at the event.
15 IEEE members and 5 non IEEE members actively attended the event. A cake cutting ceremony was followed by the talks to mark the end of this celebration.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”36191″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
