Details: IEEE BUET Student Branch in association with IEEE Bangladesh Section, IEEE BUET Student Branch, IEEE Robotics & Automation Society BUET SB Chapter, IEEE Signal Processing Society, BUET SB Chapter and IEEE Engineering in Medicine & Biology BUET SB Chapter organized a technical talk on “Bio Inspired Sensors & IoT: Challenges & Opportunities”. The event was held at Room no. 627 of ECE Building, Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology on May 15, 2019.
The speaker of the event, Dr. Khan Arif Wahid is a Professor of Department of ECE, University of Saskatchewan, Canada. He has founded a rapid prototyping facility named “Multimedia Processing and Prototyping Laboratory” for design, develop and performance analysis of digital systems in image and video processing and medical imaging applications.
The talk started at 2:00 PM sharply. To make the talk more interactive, the speaker conducted the whole session in a semi-formal way. At first, he gave a small brief on why to choose biomedical sector for research purpose, opportunities and difficulties a researcher may have.
Later he portrayed how Bio-sensors are made and discussed their classifications, how they work, limitations over them, histogram analysis, how IoT is making things easier etc. He specially emphasized on learning Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality. Then the speaker shared his research experiences of his works. After that, a Q&A session took place.
The talk lasted for about one & a half hours. The Head of EEE Department, BUET, Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam handed over a souvenir to the speaker as a token of appreciation for his wonderful presentation. A small token of appreciation was also handed to Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam by Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, Professor, EEE, BUET. There was a group photo session afterwards.
At about 4:00 PM, the event came to an end.
