[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]“IEEE R10 SAC Counselors & Mentors Meet 2016” was held on October 07, 2016 in IAC Seminar Room of ECE building in BUET. Organized by IEEE Bangladesh Section SAC team and hosted by IEEE BUET Student Branch, this event was an annual gathering of the ex-com members in respective organizing bodies.
The event was anchored by Shimanto Chowdhury, Vice Chair of IEEE BUET SB. The opening speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, Chairperson of IEEE Bangladesh Section, where he emphasized on arranging this sort of events. Then began the part of presentation of the yearlong activities of student branches across the country. A staggering number of 22 student branches out of 25 were present in the meet where they all took the podium one by one and depicted their tireless activities in the student branches; the events they have arranged, the seminars and workshops they have conducted and the factories they have visited as a part of the industrial tours. They ended with their upcoming plans. The presentation session ended with follow up questions by the audience. A short prayer break and a tea break was there in the middle.
The next session was conducted by Prof. Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Coordinator, IEEE WIE R10 affinity group. This session was mainly based on R10 WIE Mentor and Mentee Program (WIEMMP), where she eloquently expressed the landmarks WIE affinity group has achieved in the past year. Starting from acquiring highest number of members in the past year to completing 3 projects which were immensely successful and had far reaching effects which was clearly seen in the R10 congress. She motivated every single person present there with a simple line,” I don’t ask people to do it. I set example first, and then request people to follow it”. She focused on WIEMMP for the retention of the WIE affinity members and their awesome activities.
The inspiring aura was put on hold for a short time as another prayer break was there. After everyone came back, a motivational speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Shahidul Islam Khan, where he single handedly inspired with his speech which was a heart-warmer. Next up was Mr. Yeasir Arafat, where he discussed about the “Student Branch Officer Responsibilities and Administration” in a beautiful presentation covering every nook and corners of the topic.
Next up was Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque where he mesmerized everyone talking about “Funding Opportunities from IEEE” stating the perks of being a part of IEEE and the big piñata of funds the students can crack provided that they use the power of IEEE wisely. The speech shone brightly in the minds of the audience as they seemed to gulp every single word from the speech. The Chair of Young Professionals of IEEE Bangladesh Section, Mr. Shams Shad Islam Rafi then took the stage to talk about the activities conducted by IEEE BDS YP. He then reflected on the opportunities it presented for all the young professionals out there.
The stage was then ornamented by Prof. Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, Chairperson, IEEE Bangladesh Section. He interacted with the audience with his speech on “Factors Behind Arranging a Successful IEEE Event” which was a must as it was seen most branches were not aware of the exact style or method in arranging a textbook successful IEEE event. This speech was important from the fact that based on this speech a case study was arranged.
The audience was divided into 4 groups randomly and they were given 4 different cases. The task was simple, crack the case in such a way that the other groups can’t find flaw in it. 10 minutes of discussion time was given which allowed the audience not only crack the case for the interactive session but also ensure that the icebreaking is done successfully as everyone talked with everyone, broadening the networks. With clock ticking, adrenaline rush was high as suggestions and challenges were up in the air. When a group presented, other 3 groups grilled their presentation finding flaws in it. The fun factor being the marks weren’t for the presentation, but in finding glitches of other groups in the impenetrable presentations. The presenting group defended the questions as well. This event served as the appetizer for the gala dinner at the end of the event.
After the interactive session, Prof. Dr. Abdul Goffar Khan came up on stage to talk about story of RUET SB. Then came the man of the event, Chowdhury Akram Hossain, Chair of IEEE Bangladesh SAC Team, who talked about how SAC team has arranged this event in order to create a bridge between the counselors, mentors and chair of different student branches, how this was a platform for exchanging thought ideas and suggestions among the branches, how collectively the branches can rise up and be big, ultimately raising the standard of the IEEE Bangladesh Section. Lastly he talked about the upcoming events which were around the calendar.
A video message from Ms. Mehvish Zahoor, IEEE R10 Student Representative was played, before the closing remark by Prof. Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, Chairperson of IEEE Bangladesh Section. Then closing remark which boosted the morale of the audience for one last time.
The event officially ended with the grand dinner and the series of photo sessions after dinner.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”36700″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”36702″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”36703″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”36701″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
