

The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society – Bangladesh Chapter, in collaboration with the IEEE Bangladesh Section and the Institute of Robotics and Automation, BUET (IRAB), successfully organized the IEEE R10 Robotics Competition: Bangladesh Round 2024. This prestigious competition aimed to showcase innovative robotics projects and was held in a hybrid format, with IRAB, BUET serving as the offline venue. The competition took place at 7:00 PM on 28th April 2024 (Sunday). The winners of Stage 1 proceeded to compete internationally in Stage 2 through an online format.
Competition Categories Eligible robotics projects for the competition were classified under the following broad categories:
Robots for healthcare
Robots for humanitarian purposes
Robots for educational/research purposes
Robots for community services or community awareness
Robots for tackling climate change challenges or assisting with climate sustainability
Robots for industrial applications
Robots for world peace, including landmine detection and defusal, surveillance, and narcotics control
Training Sessions To prepare participants for the competition, two online training sessions were conducted:
Training Session 1: Conducted by Engr. Shohel Rana, a robotics engineer, on 25th April 2024 (Thursday) from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Training Session 2: Conducted by Prof. Shaikh A. Fattah, Professor, Dept. of EEE, BUET, on 26th April 2024 (Friday) from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Final Competition The final competition of the Bangladesh Round took place on 28th April 2024 (Sunday) at 7:00 PM in a hybrid format. The offline venue was at IRAB, BUET, while online participation was facilitated for remote participants.
Team Formation Rules Participants were required to adhere to the following team formation guidelines:
The competition was open to all IEEE Student Members and Graduate Student Members (GSM).
Non-IEEE members were encouraged to participate but were required to obtain IEEE membership to advance to Stages 2 and 3.
Participants could compete either individually or in teams.
Teams could have a maximum of four members.
To qualify as a WIE (Women in Engineering) team, the majority of team members had to be female IEEE members. The team could not have an equal or greater number of male members than female members.
Each team was required to designate a team leader.
Ignite Session Prior to the main competition, an Ignite Session was held on 23rd February 2024 at 7:00 PM, providing an initial orientation and awareness about the competition.
The IEEE R10 Robotics Competition: Bangladesh Round 2024 provided a platform for students and researchers to present their innovative robotics projects and engage with experts in the field. The event successfully fostered collaboration and technological advancements in the field of robotics. The winners of Stage 1 proceeded to the next stage, representing Bangladesh on an international platform. The competition served as an opportunity to encourage creativity, problem-solving, and the application of robotics in real-world challenges.
