IEEE Smart City: Bangladesh perspective
IEEE Bangladesh Section in association with IEEE BUET Student Branch organized “IEEE R10 HTC 2017 – Volunteer Recognition Program” on 4th July, 2018 hosted by Department of EEE, BUET at ECE Building, BUET, Dhaka. The event was to recognize the efforts of the volunteers who have gone the extra mile to make IEEE R10 HTC 2017 a tremendous success.
Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Chair, IEEE Bangladesh Section, General Co-Chair, IEEE R10 HTC 2017, Yeasir Arafat, Vice-Chair (Activity), IEEE Bangladesh Section, Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, Nominations and Appointments Chair, IEEE Bangladesh Section, General Chair, IEEE R10 HTC 2017, Dr. Shafiqul Islam, Head, Department of EEE, BUET, Mohammad Zakaria Haider, Secretary, IEEE Bangladesh Section, Md. Romael Haque, Treasurer, IEEE Bangladesh Section and Raihan Ur Rashid, Publicity Co-ordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section were present as honorable guests. About 48 student, YP and WIE volunteers who have been involved with IEEE R10 HTC 2017 were present at the event. The session started at 6:00 pm.
Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, General Chair, IEEE R10 HTC 2017, started the session by giving a brief speech about IEEE R10 HTC 2017 and the part that all the volunteers played for the successful execution of the conference. He also discussed how this valuable experience is going to help all the volunteers to groom for the important events and conferences that are going to be organized by IEEE Bangladesh Section in near future.
Then Dr. Celia Shahnaz, General Co-Chair, IEEE R10 HTC 2017, also discussed briefly how important the conference was and how delicately all the volunteers performed their individual roles for the successful completion of the conference. She shared some experiences acquired during the conference and all the challenges that everyone had to face and overcome.
After that, Yeasir Arafat, Vice-Chair (Activity), IEEE Bangladesh Section, praised the efficiencies of the volunteers. He shared some instances where he was amazed at the level of performance of the volunteers which was beyond his expectations. 
Finally, all the volunteers along with their designated team leaders were called upon to share their experiences throughout the conference. They were asked to share their opinions on how to improve different aspects in order to improvise with all the resources available in the upcoming events and conferences.
At the end of the event, the volunteers were awarded tokens and certificates for their outstanding contribution in IEEE R10 HTC 2017. A group photo was taken to wrap up the event. A grand dinner was prepared to commemorate the efforts of all the volunteers and all the members of IEEE Bangladesh Section in IEEE R10 HTC 2017.
