Abstract: Flux Modulation Machines have been with significant progress in recent years and have become one of hottest research topics in electrical machine area for both academic and industry applications due to their high torque density and simple structure. This presentation will be a summarized presentation of Flux Modulation Machines: from principle, features to topologies. After a short introduction, the talk will focus on difference with traditional machines, operation principles, topologies, and recent progress in flux modulation principle including double modulation. Linear and superconducting vernier machines will also be discussed as time allows.
An IEEE IAS Distinguished Lecture took place on the 1st of December at Room – 627 of ECE Building, BUET, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The lecture was given by Professor Ronghai Qu, Ph.D. of Huazhong University of Science & Technology, Wuhan, China. Dr. Qu is an IEEE IAS Distinguished Lecturer 2019-2020 and the chair of IEEE Industry Application Society (IAS) Wuhan Chapter. The lecture was on ‘Flux Modulation Machines’. The abstract is stated below.
There were around 45 participants. Prof. Dr. Celia Shahnaz, chair of IEEE Bangladesh Section and IEEE IAS BD Chapter; Prof. Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, vice-chair of IEEE IAS BD Chapter; Prof. Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam, Head of the Department of EEE, BUET; and some respected professors were also present at the talk. The talk started at around 10 am and ended by 11:30 am. A small token of appreciation was presented to Prof. Qu at the end of the talk.
