IEEE Smart City: Bangladesh perspective
IEEE Bangladesh Section organized “IEEE Bangladesh Section Vitality Summit 2018” on 28 April, 2018 at ECE Building, BUET, Dhaka to meet each sub-committee members of IEEE Bangladesh Section and executive committee members of IEEE Bangladesh Section Young Professionals and IEEE Bangladesh Section Women in Engineering Affinity Group and to share the year-long activities of IEEE Bangladesh Section in 2018.

Tanseer Ali, Professional Activity Co-ordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section, Dr. Mohammed Imamul Hassan Bhuiyan, Awards Activity Co-ordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section, Shams Shad Islam Khan, Student Activity Co-ordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section, Dr. Farseem Mannan Mohammedy, Newsletter Editor, IEEE Bangladesh Section, Rakibul Islam Chowdhury, Humanitarian Activity Co-ordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section, Raihan Ur Rashid, Publicity Co-ordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section and Azfar Adib, Industrial Activity Co-ordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section were present along with about 50 sub-committee and executive members. The session started at 4 PM.
Mohammad Zakaria Haider, Secretary, IEEE Bangladesh Section, started the session by giving a brief overview of IEEE Bangladesh Section Activities for the first four months of this year 2018.
Then Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Chair, IEEE Bangladesh Section started her session by giving a brief speech on IEEE Bangladesh Section and its recent activities. She also discussed the achievements of IEEE Bangladesh Section. She explained the challenges faced by IEEE Bangladesh Section and shared her vision for the betterment of the future of IEEE in Bangladesh.
Later, Md. Romael Haque, Treasurer, IEEE Bangladesh Section talked about financial documentation process and funding procedure of IEEE Bangladesh Section.
After that, Yeasir Arafat, Vice-Chair (Activity), IEEE Bangladesh Section, shared some valuable experiences about the problems he had to face as a former treasurer of IEEE Bangladesh Section and gave brief instructions to the sub-committee and executive members about the ways of applying for budget and reporting to the treasurer.
Then, Shams Shad Islam Khan, Student Activity Co-ordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section shared recent programs organized by Student Activity Committee and their upcoming plan. He also introduced his sub-committee members.
Rakibul Islam Chowdhury, Humanitarian Activity Co-ordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section discussed different activities of the Humanitarian Activity Committee. Then, he introduced his sub-committee members.
After that Dr. M. Tanseer Ali, Professional Activity Co-ordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section introduced his sub-committee members. This was followed by Raihan Ur Rashid, Publicity Co-ordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section introducing his sub-committee members.
Azfar Adib, Industrial Activity Co-ordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section discussed industry and academia collaboration as well as how IEEE helping to develop industrial skills of people. He showed recent events organized by Industrial Activity Committee and their next course of activities. He also introduced his sub-committee members.
In absence of Dr. A. B. M. Aowlad Hossain, Educational Activity Co-ordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section and Dr. Md. Rabiul Islam, Membership Development Co-ordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section, one member from each of their sub-committee went ahead and introduced their respective sub-committee members.
At the end of the event, a cake was cut to celebrate the birthday of honorable Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Chair, IEEE Bangladesh Section, and everyone wished her a very happy birthday. A group photo was taken to wrap up the summit.
