IEEE advances technology for humanity by creative collaborative platforms around fields of technical knowledge: via its world-renowned conferences, publications, educational workshops, and standards.
On 20th July, IEEE UIU Student Branch collaborated with IEEE Bangladesh Section, IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) Bangladesh Chapter and IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) Bangladesh Chapter to organize a special event titled “IEEE Bangladesh Section Vitality Enhancement Event”. The program was all about informing, enhancing and grooming the students about the different types of prestigious opportunities that are available to anyone possessing an IEEE Membership. A total of 20 participants were present at this event which was conducted by four very distinguished speakers representing IEEE Bangladesh Section, IEEE SPS Bangladesh Chapter, and IEEE EMBS Bangladesh Chapter.
The first two sessions were conducted by Nymour Rahman, a member of the IEEE SPS Bangladesh Chapter and Mohammad Ehsanul Haque, a member of the IEEE EMBS Bangladesh Chapter, both of whom are graduate students from the Department of EEE of BUET. They were pleased to share with us the knowledge of various research and funding opportunities available all around the world. They emphasized having an IEEE Membership which is crucial in order to gain access to these opportunities.
The third session was conducted by Shajib Ghosh, Secretary of IEEE EMBS Bangladesh Chapter and a graduate student of the University of Dhaka. He conducted a campaign on the Smart City Initiative, which was started by IEEE Bangladesh Section earlier in 2019 and it is about making Dhaka City a better place to live in by introducing smart technology to assist us in our daily lives. This initiative is based on various Internet of Things (IoT) projects and it is set to make a huge impact on our lives within a certain span of time.
The fourth and final session was conducted by M. Tanseer Ali, Assistant Professor of the Department of EEE at AIUB and the Educational Activities Coordinator of the IEEE Bangladesh Section. He inspired the audience by delivering a talk on IEEE Membership Engagement, Recruitment, and Retention. He and Shajib Ghosh were more than happy to announce that a total of five different IEEE conferences were being organized by the different sectors of the IEEE Bangladesh Section.
Dr. Md. Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of EEE of UIU and Dr. M. Rukhonuzzaman, Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Department of EEE of UIU attended the program as guests. They honored the distinguished speakers of the Vitality Enhancement Event by presenting gift bags to them. The prestigious event finally concluded with the participants of the program posing for a group photo with the speakers and our respected faculty members.
