IEEE Bangladesh Section along with IEEE Robotics and Automation Society and IEEE Industrial Application society Branch chapter organized a series of technical program “IEEE Bangladesh Section Vitality Enhancement”; which was hosted by IEEE IUB STUDENT BRANCH, IEEE IUB Industrial Application society Branch chapter, and IEEE IUB Women in Engineering Affinity group. The seminar took place on 27th July 2019 at the IUB campus. The aim of the event was to deliver information to the participants about the various societies of IEEE as well as the current status of IEEE in Bangladesh, which included current membership status and the various projects being carried out. Four guest speakers were present in the seminar: Sazzad Sayyed, graduate from the dept. of EEE, BUET, and lecturer at Southeast University, Shajib Ghosh, Secretary of IEEE EMBS Bangladesh Chapter and graduate of Dhaka University, Abdul Rakib Hossain, graduate from BUET and lecturer at Shonargaon University, and Faisal Mohsin, manager (Satellite Engineer) at Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Ltd. and professional activities coordinator of the IEEE Bangladesh section ex-com. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak, Associate Professor of Dept. of EEE, IUB started the seminar with an introductory speech, followed by the first speaker Mr. Sazzad Sayyed, who introduced us to the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS). Mr. Sazzad spoke about the importance and applications of signal processing and mentioned about the projects and programs carried out by the IEEE SPS. The second speaker, Mr. Shajib Ghosh, introduced us to the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS). He shared with the participants the Medical and Biology sectors related to EEE, mostly emphasizing on detection methods (ECG, EEG, Endoscopy, etc.) and Deep learning (neural networks), as well as informed the participants about the current programs and events that IEEE EMBS is working on. The third speaker, Mr. Abdul Rakib Hossain, gave his speech upon the topic “IEEE Bangladesh Section Smart City Initiative” where he informed us about what smart city is and the various fields necessary to be improved to achieve smart city, including smart transportation, smart housing, and smart grid. The final speaker, Mr. Faisal Mohsin, talked about IEEE Bangladesh Section, sharing information about the current members in the country as well as the gradual membership growth, the several societies of IEEE, as well as the upcoming IEEE conferences. The seminar ended with Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak handing over crests to the speakers. Overall, the seminar was a successful one and was particularly helpful to participants who plan to do research or are searching for research topics.
