IEEE Bangladesh Section organized “IEEE Bangladesh Section Student/Young
Professional/Women in Engineering Membes’ (SYWM) Congress 2019” on 25 December
2019 at GrameenPhone Center, Bashundhara R/A, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The event was held in four sessions. At the first session, IEEE Bangladesh Section Chair,
Professor Dr. Celia Shahnaz talked about IEEE Bangladesh Section, it’s activities, awards
and benefits. She also informed the conference attendees on IEEE TENSYMP 2020 which is
going to be organized in Bangladesh on June 5-7, 2020.
After the first session, there was a tea-break. After the break, Mr. Azfar Adib, Concordia
University and Mr. Ragib Ahsan, University of Southern California, had a session on IEEE
Young Professionals interactive activities. After this talk, Mr. Abhijit Biswas, Treasurer, IEEE
BDS and Mr. Raihan Ur Rashid, Secretary, IEEE BDS talked further about the activities of
IEEE Bangladesh Section. Then, the participants had a chance to visit the Innovation Lab of
GrameenPhone as a part of industry visit. After this visit, the second session came to an
end and lunch break was announced.
After the lunch break of the second session, there was an interactive quiz session on IEEE &
BDS Activities where all the participants enjoyed spontaneously. After the quiz session, Mr.
Romael Haque, Marquette University, Mr. Abir Ahsan Akib, Lecturer, Brac University, Mr.
Raihan Ur Rashid, Spectrum Engineering Ltd. and Mr. Abhijit Biswas, Lecturer, Brac
University had their talk on Student Branch Interactive Activities. This session ended with
the announcement of tea break and the industry visit for the participants who left out in
previous session.
After the tea break, the fourth session commenced with the talk on Technical Society
Initiatives and Interactive Training on Robotics. The speakers of this talk were- Mr. Abul Al
Arabi, Robotics Automation Society, Mr. S. M. Saiduzzaman, Signal Processing Society, Mr.
Shajib Ghosh, EMBS and Mr. Muntasir Hassan, IAS. After that, Dr. Sadia Afroze, ICSI, Jorifa
Khatun, BPDB and Mohasinina Kamal, University of California, Riverside had a session on
Women in Engineering Interactive Activities. Then another quiz session was held on IEEE &
BDS Activities. After the quiz, a talk on Humanitarian Technology Activities were held by Dr.
Shaikh A Fattah, Chair, IEEE HAC Education Committee and Dr. Muhibul Haque Bhuyan,
Coordinator, IEEE BDS HAC.
After the fourth and the last session, the congress came to an end following an official
photoshoot with all the participants and the speakers of the sessions.
