Details: IEEE Bangladesh Section along with IEEE Bangladesh Section Student Activities Committee organized IEEE Bangladesh Section Student Branch ExComs’ and Counselors’ Summit 2019 on March 29, 2019 from 2:30 PM to 9:30 PM at Asia Hotel and Resort, Dhaka.
Student Branch Chairs, Student Branch Women in Engineering Affinity Group Chairs and Student Branch Counsellors of 34 Student Branches of IEEE Bangladesh Section from all over the country were present in this prestigious event to represent their Branch, showcase their activities of the past one year and to attain guidelines from the Section regarding their activities and development. The presentations were judged by the ExCom members of IEEE Bangladesh Section.
The event started with the Student Branch Chairs presenting their posters, containing the best practices of their branches’ activities throughout the year 2018 in front of all. Following that, the inaugural speech was presented on “Leveraging Impactful Technology for the benefit of humanity through IEEE Engagement: IEEE BDS and SIGHT vision 2019” by Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Chair, IEEE Bangladesh Section and Communications Chair, IEEE SIGHT Steering Committee. She emphasized the function of SIGHT for bringing an impact on humanity.
The Section Chair’s speech was forsooth a literal guideline towards the ExCom Members of the Student Branches, showing them the vast windows of opportunities of organizing quality events, collaborating with the Section and the Region. She invoked the achievements and awards gained by IEEE BDS in the recent past in an inspiring peroration.
The speech on “IEEE Student Branch Planning, Event Reporting and Documentation” was delivered by Raihan Ur Rashid, Secretary, IEEE BDS. The Secretary’s speech was a live presentation of the stipulations of the Officer Reporting by the Student Branch Representatives. Following that, Wordh Ul Hasan on behalf of Shams Shad Islam Khan, Student Activities Coordinator, IEEE BDS delivered a speech on “IEEE Student Competitions, Benefits, Awards and Recognition”, pointing out the recognitions, awards and achievements of IEEE Bangladesh Section in the recent past. The event continued after a snack break with the speech of Abhijit Biswas, Treasurer, IEEE BDS, on “IEEE Financial Reporting and Other Best Practices”. His speech was a rejoinder to the queries of the Branches’ funding, Rebates and apprised the attendees of IEEE attributes like Member-Get-a-Member benefits.
The following session, which was focused on Social Impact Analysis of Humanitarian Technology Projects, was conducted by Professor Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, Education Chair, IEEE Humanitarian Activity Committee (HAC).
Nine sessions, introducing and providing brief information regarding the nine technical chapters of IEEE Bangladesh Section were presented after that which were all followed by instant pop-up quiz sessions. Top three participants, scoring highest in the quiz contest were awarded in the event right after the sessions ended.
The four award winners from IEEE Bangladesh Section at the IEEE R10 SYWL Congress 2018 were honored and recognized in front of the SB representatives to inspire them to achieve the benchmark the winners created.
The Student branches were then called upon to award the Rebates that were authorized to them from IEEE for reporting of the year 2018. Apart from this, each participant was awarded travel grants and they all gathered to get into the giant group photo with the Section and IEEE BDS YP ExCom members.
