IEEE NSU Student Branch in collaboration with IEEE Bangladesh Section Student Activities Committee held a “Workshop on Web Design” at North South University premises. The workshop was divided into two days; the first day of the workshop was held on 2nd March 2019 and the 2nd day of the workshop was on 22nd March 2019. The tagline of the workshop was “Now build your own portfolio website”. The registration was open for all, any currently enrolled university student was welcomed to participate in the workshop and the registration was free of charge. More than 60 students registered for the workshop and due to seat limitations, the first 45 registered students were invited to participate in the workshop.
Topics covered in the workshop were:
- HTML
- CSS
- Bootstrap
- Inspect
- Template Editing (Portfolio)
- Loading Time
- Domain and Hosting
- Live Server
- Ideas about Javascript (frontend) + backend
- Ideas about WordPress life
Basic topics will be covered on the first day such as HTML and CSS basics. On the second day, a portfolio website was built using WordPress. Afterward, instructor Debashish Paul showed his own portfolio website. Then he provided some websites to buy domains from and also explained how to check if a domain is available or not. Finally, he logged into his own domain’s admin portal using cPanel and showed how to host a website.
The event ended by providing snacks to the participants.
