IEEE Smart City: Bangladesh perspective
IEEE Bangladesh Section, supported by IEEE Student Branch DU and IEEE WIE AG SB DU successfully organized the seminar on “Introduction to IEEE: World’s Largest Professional Organization” on 4th April 2018 at Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Dhaka. The seminar focused on discussing membership benefits, values, and services of IEEE.
Prof. Celia Shahnaz, Chair, IEEE Bangladesh Section, Md. Zakaria Haider, Secretary, IEEE Bangladesh Section, Md. Rakibul Islam Chowdhury, Humanitarian Activities Coordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section, and Raihan Ur Rashid, Publicity Coordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section, Shams Shad Islam Khan, Student Activity Coordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section were present as the honorable speakers of the event. Md. Romael Haque, Treasurer, IEEE Bangladesh Section was also present at the event. The session started at 3:30 PM. Around 50 students, most of whom are IEEE members, were present.
The first speaker of the seminar, Md. Zakaria Haider, Secretary, IEEE Bangladesh Section talked about IEEE, it’s structure and global activities. Then he shared his journey in IEEE and his achievement along the way.
After that, Rakibul Islam Chowdhury, Humanitarian Activities Coordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section, shed some light on the IEEE’s global humanitarian agendas and IEEE Bangladesh Section’s humanitarian activities and efforts.
Honorable Chair of IEEE Bangladesh Section, Dr. Celia Shahnaz started her session with the message of yearlong celebration of 25th year of IEEE Bangladesh Section. After her introduction, she explained the benefit of joining IEEE and described some of the notable events of IEEE Bangladesh Section last year.
Raihan Ur Rashid, Publicity Coordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section, shared some statistics and previous global achievements of IEEE Bangladesh Section and its members.
The last speaker of the event, Shams Shad Islam Khan, Student Activity Coordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section, spoke about future events IEEE Student Activities Committee (SAC) is organizing and how to apply for hosting these events.
Lastly Dr. Md. Atiqur Rahman Ahad, Mentor of IEEE SB DU and Md. Zahidul Islam Raju, Branch Counselor of IEEE SB DU were present and concluded the event by giving tokens of appreciation to honorable guests.
