A seminar on “Importance of Biomedical Engineering Education: Potentialities and Challenges” was successfully held on 15 February 2018 (Thursday) at Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HU), Dinajpur, Bangladesh. The seminar was jointly organized by the Educational Activity Sub-committee of IEEE Bangladesh Section and IEEE Student Branch of (HSTU). About 90 participants were attended and among them, 36 are the members of IEEE.
The session included a presentation and discussion parts. Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Aowlad Hossain (Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering) was the keynote speaker. In the context of global scenario, the speaker focused on the prospects Biomedical Engineering as well as the inclusion of curriculum and opening more BME program especially in Bangladesh. Furthermore, the importance of joining in IEEE and membership retention was also discussed. Md. Faruk Kibria, Chairman (Incharge), Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mr. Md. Safiqul Islam, Counselor, IEEE Student Branch, HSTU and the faculty members of Computer Science and Engineering Faculty of HTSU were present. The seminar ended with an active discussion among the participants.
