[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]From 2nd April to 16th April, 2016 IEEE MIST Student Branch organized a short course entitled “Electrical Protection & Energy Management System” at Room no. 901, Building 2, Military Institute of science & Technology (MIST). The focus of the short course is to enhance the knowledge on a significant part of Power System Analysis, Electrical Protection & Energy Management.
Prof. Gp Capt Mohammed Hossam-E- Haider, Honorable Head, Dept. of EECE, MIST and Counselor of IEEE MIST Student Branch inaugurated the short course on 2nd of April wishing the attendees a good experience in understanding power system analysis more.
Officials from ABB Ltd Bangladesh, notably Mr. Sabbir Aman and Ms. Faria Sultana conducted this short course. Over the course duration, it unfurled different electrical protection measures e.g. the proper safety measures for thunder storms, the safety measures under normal conditions in domestic environment. It also carried out an in-detail energy management calculation for a house or building or even industries. The attendees are also taught the estimation of the cost with a software simulation.
The short course ended with students very satisfied with the overall setup and expressed their expectation for more of these to boost their academic knowledge.
On 17th April 2016 all the participants of the course received their course completion certificate from Chief of General Staff, Bangladesh Army- Lt Gen Sabbir Ahmed OSP, SGP, ndc, psc as a chief guest. Maj Gen Abdul Quadir, Commandant, MIST was also present there as a special guest.
The chief guest emphasized to the importance of electrical protection for effective energy management of Bangladesh in their speech and also hopes that all the participant will be able to use the practical knowledge in their professional life.
