The 2024 3rd IEEE International Conference on Robotics, Automation, Artificial-intelligence and Internet-of-Things (RAAICON 2024) was successfully held at the Institute of Robotics and Automation, BUET (IRAB) on November 29-30, 2024. The event brought together distinguished researchers, industry experts, and young professionals to explore the latest advancements in robotics, artificial intelligence, IoT, and automation. Since its launch in 2019, RAAICON has evolved into a premier platform for collaboration and innovation in these rapidly advancing fields.
The conference was jointly sponsored by the IEEE Bangladesh Section and the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Bangladesh Chapter. This year, the conference received 169 research papers, of which all 58 high-quality papers were presented. Covering a wide range of topics—from robotics applications to AI-driven innovations, IoT solutions, and automation technologies—the conference provided attendees with a valuable academic and professional experience.
RAAICON 2024 featured nine technical sessions and four co-located events: the IEEE WIE BD Summit 2024 on Robotics for Climate Change and Assistive Technologies, the IEEE Young Professional Congress 2024, an Intra BUET ROBO Challenge and Project Showcase organized by the BUET Robotics Society (BRS), and an Industrial Technical Seminar focused on the challenges of robotics and automation in Bangladesh.
A highlight of the event was the keynote talks delivered by eminent experts: Prof. Darwin G. Cardwell, Fellow of IEEE and Founding Director of the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), Genoa, Italy; Prof. Ravinder S. Dahiya, Fellow of IEEE and Professor at Northeastern University, USA; and Prof. Lionel P. Robert Jr., Professor at the School of Information, College of Engineering, USA. Additionally, two invited speakers, Dr. Kazi Arafat Rahman, Associate Professor of department of Mechanical Engineering, BUET and Dr. Arjon Turnip, Department of Electrical Engineering, Universitas Padjadjaran, Indonesia shared their insights.
With an audience of approximately 300 attendees, RAAICON 2024 successfully fostered knowledge exchange, networking, and discussions on the future of robotics and automation, reinforcing its role as a leading conference in the field.
