2019 IEEE International Conference on Biomedical Engineering, Computer and Information Technology for Health (BECITHCON) is an area specific conference, especially designed to serve as a platform for academic researchers and research scholars working in the field of biomedical engineering, biomedical
signal and image processing, health informatics and relevant areas. The conference was held on 28-30 November, 2019 at FARS Hotel & Resorts, Dhaka, Bangladesh. IEEE Bangladesh section (IEEE BDS) and IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) Bangladesh Chapter jointly organized
the conference. The conference was co-located with four other conferences/workshops, namely PEEIACON, RAAICON, SPICSCON and SympSIST. As a result authors of this conference also could attend the keynote/invited talks and varieties of technical sessions of all co-located conferences/workshops which involved contribution from 16 speakers and authors from 10 different countries.
There were two keynote talks by two IEEE EMBS distinguished lecturers during the conference. Dr. V.R. Singh, Life-Fellow of IEEE and Chair of IEEE IMS/EMBS Delhi delivered his keynote talk titled “Recent Advances in Biomedical Sensor Systems for Diagnostic and Therapeutic Applications” on 29th November.
The other keynote speaker was Dr. Ricardo L. Armentano who is also an IEEE EMBS distinguished lecturer and a Distinguished Professor of Cardiovascular Engineering. He delivered his talk on “The smart performance of the vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) to preserve the ‘elastic human’” on 30th November, 2019. Their insight and valuable lectures inspired the authors as well as all other participants to explore the recent advancements and research opportunities in the area of biomedical engineering, biomedical signal and image processing, health informatics and other relevant areas.
Full papers submitted to the conference were thoroughly reviewed by a pool of expert reviewers. A total of 24 papers have been selected from about 37 submitted papers involving 76 authors. All publications were reviewed by at least two independent reviewers and a technical committee member in order to maintain the quality of the conference. In total 24 reviewers were involved in the extensive review process of this conference. The dedication of the whole team who worked day and night to maintain the technical quality of the conference was remarkable. The authors, distinguished speakers, delegates and guests enjoyed the conference and DL sessions and found them very useful.
